Article Processing Charge

All articles published in Studies in Science of Science 科学学研究 (ISSN: 1003-2053) are published in full open access start from January, 01 2026.

An article processing charge (APC) is US$ 1,250 applies to papers accepted after peer review.

Authors from the countries listed may also qualify for special support, with a discounted APC applied accordingly. Studies in Science of Science 科学学研究 is committed to inclusive academic publishing and seeks to reduce financial obstacles for researchers from developing economies. In line with this commitment, the journal offers publication fee discounts to authors affiliated with institutions in low-income economies and lower-middle-income countries, based on the World Bank country classification.

Authors affiliated with institutions in low-income economies will receive a reduced APC of USD 750, while authors from lower-middle-income economies will receive a reduced APC of USD 900.

This policy is designed to widen global academic participation, promote greater diversity in research, and ensure that important perspectives from emerging and developing markets can be shared more broadly with the international scholarly community.

This article processing charge is to cover the costs of peer review, copyediting, typesetting, long-term archiving, and journal management. All articles published in Studies in Science of Science 科学学研究 are published in full open access. 

Regarding to current policy, submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use the Studies in Science of Science 科学学研究 English editing service before publication or during author revisions. Note that many national and private research funding organizations and universities explicitly cover APCs for articles resulting from funded research projects.
